Q&A with the developers #4: 0.7.0 update

Announcement

Wanderers!

Thank you for your interest in the upcoming update! We have carefully reviewed all of your questions and prepared our responses.

We have preserved the original spelling and punctuation in the questions. We would also like to note that we tried to avoid posting duplicate questions and answers and did not consider questions that violated the established posting guidelines.

Question: The update poster features a painted ship; there are painted bot ships and pre-built ships (used for side jobs) in the game. Are there plans to expand this aspect of shipbuilding in this update or in future updates?

Answer: Don’t expect the paint system to be ready in the next update: we’re still working on its technical aspects, as well as the interface elements needed for it. However, we plan to fully implement it by the end of this year.

Question: The patch note mentions the market; which items will be available for sale? And will items that currently cannot be sold become available for sale?

Answer: At this time, the plan is to make all in-game items available for trade. However, this may change, and certain items may be removed from trade if problems arise that interfere with the gaming experience.

Question: Does “more valuable rewards” mean that PvP locations will feature unique rewards or resources that aren’t available in other modes, or will they be exactly the same as in PvE, just in slightly larger quantities?

Answer: In this case, the plan is for the difference in resources to lie not in their quantity, but specifically in the availability of the resources themselves. We concluded that the versatility of each location in terms of available resources led to fairly monotonous gameplay. Therefore, we have distributed resources across locations in such a way that players will need to travel between them if they require a specific material. At the same time, the prime resources needed to craft basic parts and consumables will still be available immediately at all locations. Thus, traveling to a specific location will only be necessary if you need to produce a high-rarity item. This distribution of resources will also help open up the market: players will be able to trade unique resources from each location.

Question: Hello. How do you plan to prevent a situation where most players will switch entirely to PvE mode as a more stable and safer way to farm, leaving the PvP maps empty except for a couple of players? Given the low player count, the convenience of PvE farming, and the market, there are concerns that the game might turn into a PvE experience without the thrill of a “dangerous space exploration.” Will there be unique mechanics, rewards, restrictions in PvE, or something else?

Answer: PvP gameplay remains an important part of the game. Each location will offer its own unique resources, whether it’s PvP or PvE oriented. These resources will still need to be gathered to produce items of high rarity, and we expect this to encourage players to participate in this activity, which can be quite lucrative given the increased risks and competition.

Question: Hello, and my question is this: will custom ship blueprints be stored in the workshop, and will other rarity categories be added to the existing weapon list to fill in the gaps?

Answer: The general progress reset will delete all account data, including your custom blueprints. As for new parts, we do not plan to expand the lineup in this update, since we are currently focusing all our efforts on developing positional perks for blocks. However, you can expect new parts to be added with the release of future battle passes.

Question: In Crossout, purchasing weapons and modules has become increasingly profitable on the market over time. This has led to several problems: players aren’t crafting anymore, the main goal of the game has become grinding resources to sell, and there are many speculators on the market. Do the developers plan to take measures to prevent this from happening in Star Wrath?

Answer: We understand your concerns, and we’ll do our best to balance the system so that production of parts remains relevant and engaging. The market system will definitely need some adjusting, so there may be some imbalances in the early stages, but we’re counting on your feedback to help us fix any obvious issues as soon as possible!

Question: It has been announced that modules will no longer be destroyed if a player ship is destroyed in battle. Won’t this lead to a situation where once a player has assembled a full set of high-rank modules, they lose the motivation and desire to play?

Answer: We are currently planning to expand the game with a variety of content, including new modules, blocks, and weapons, which should create new goals for players and offer a fresh gaming experience.

Question: Are there any plans to introduce limits on the number of items you can buy/sell? will there be corporations/chambers of commerce where you can develop socially/in terms of reputation?

Answer: Yes, we are planning to introduce some restrictions for players on the market. For example, the number of buy/sell offers that can be posted at the same time will be limited. As for platforms for social/reputation development, we don’t have any plans at this time, but we’ve taken note of your idea!

Question: How will you prevent Star Wrath falling down into the Crossout full group farming vs randoms that killed the game for most average joes?

Answer: We understand your concerns about this aspect, but at the moment we are not discussing the possible solutions for the problem you’ve mentioned. The ability to play as a group is very important for Star Wrath, and we don’t want to create conditions that seem “punishing” for players who want to play with their friends. However, we will be monitoring the situation closely and try to balance different parameters in a way that the game experience remains exciting for both solo players and players who play as groups.

Question: Hello. You’ve mentioned that there will be a progress reset before the 0.7.0 update. Will the game still be in its closed beta stage, or will it turn into open beta once the 0.7.0 update is released? Will there be one more progress reset before the open beta, if the game is still in the closed beta stage after 0.7.0?

Answer: With the release of the 0.7.0 update, the game will still be in its closed beta stage; however, our approach to the progress resets will most likely change. We wanted to approach the subject of such resets very cautiously, but during the CBT stage it turned out that it actually slowed the development process and prevented us from making decisions that we thought were necessary.

Question: With the introduction of permanent PvE to some maps in 0.7, do the team have any plans for more complex “boss” targets that current transports fulfill in Cooperation?

Answer: Yes, we have such plans. During the next months the PvE gameplay will be developing in many directions, including this one.

If you didn’t find the answer to your question in this issue of the Q&A, don’t worry: we may address it in future posts.

Thank you for helping us make the game better. We look forward to your new questions!
