Star Wrath 0.8.0 - Assault

Update

Wanderers, we’re excited to present the 0.8.0 update! It focuses on developing the PvP aspect of the game, reworking the weapons, and introducing the new approach to structural parts and modules. Let’s dive in!

General progress reset

Due to the changes to the game systems in the 0.8.0 update, we have carried out a complete progress reset for all players. This is necessary to ensure the proper functioning of the modified mechanics and the new ship constructor system.

All previously purchased packs have been restored to your accounts.

Thank you for continuing to participate in testing and helping us create Star Wrath!

Blocks and modules

This update makes blocks inseparable from modules. This means that every unique block now contains a specific module. This change has had a noticeable impact on both the experience of using the constructor and the game itself, and we chose to go in this direction for a number of reasons.

Combining blocks with modules has simplified the ship construction and made it easier to understand each block’s function. It’s also now clearer what makes each block unique: if you like a particular module, you know that its upgraded versions can be found in a specific block.

This change also allowed us to focus more easily on the visuals and mechanics of each block, while reducing the total number of parameters that need to be tracked for balance changes. Each block’s appearance is now tailored specifically to the module it has, improving artistic expression through a variety of shapes and sizes, as well as the unique effects of the modules themselves.

The existing weapon blocks have already been redesigned in terms of both visuals and mechanics, so we invite you to check them out firsthand!

Other changes

The overall ship maneuverability has been rebalanced in favor of the cabins. As a result, a ship’s maneuverability will be primarily determined by the selected cabin, with the possibility of slightly increasing maneuverability by installing blocks. This change should increase the variety of ship designs and narrow the gap between functional and aesthetic builds.

We have also reworked the schematic unlocks. Now you don’t have to research schematics — they unlock as you level up and are issued as a free reward of the Season.

The part rarity system has been revised and now includes the following groups:

  • Common — no changes
  • Rare — previously Uncommon
  • Epic — new rarity
  • Legendary — previously Rare

The ammunition system has been adjusted: projectiles are now stored in blocks instead of the cabin, and the total amount of standard ammunition has been significantly increased.

Game modes

“Assault” PvP mode

The 0.8.0 update introduces a new team PvP mode called “Assault”. This mode will be available on a permanent basis.

The mode has two teams battling each other, and the main objective is to earn 1000 victory points. The team that reaches this score first wins.

The “Assault” mode has respawns, so the destruction of a ship does not mean the end of the battle for a player. After being destroyed, you can return to the battle and continue to help your team.

Victory points

The points are awarded to the team that destroys a ship from the opposing team. The number of points depends on the type of the destroyed target:

  • Fighter: 15 points
  • Corvette: 40 points
  • Player ship: 45 points
  • Frigate: 200 points

Rewards

At the end of a battle, each player receives resources based on their individual contribution to the team’s victory. In addition to the common resources, players can earn a special resource: “Encrypted data”. This resource can only be obtained in the “Assault” mode. “Encrypted data” is used in recipes for crafting new weapons.

Specifically for this mode we will be launching our first time-limited regular activity where players can get increased reward for playing this mode. This activity will be available on Wednesday, from 19:00 to 21:00 GMT and on Saturday, from 18:00 to 20:00 GMT. We’ll be sure to let you know when it begins, so stay tuned!

“Law of the sword”

Based on your feedback and analytics for the “Law of the sword” modifier, we have decided to remove it from the general map rotation. Missions related to this mode have also been removed from the game.

Changes to the PvE

To improve the game’s PvE component, we have updated the AI-controlled enemies.

The ships themselves were adapted to the updated block system to maintain the same level of difficulty when engaging the AI-controlled enemies.

A special weaker version of the Driller now appears in lower difficulty locations, which is easier to handle for starter ships. AI-controlled enemies also now carry a smaller supply of consumables, which may reduce the average duration of battles against them.

In some cases, the difficulty of PvE was increased:

  • Increased the number of randomly placed turrets;
  • Ace ships now appear after the player destroys 6 ships, instead of 8 previously;
  • At high-difficulty locations, Aces now appear in groups;
  • Updated the spawn positions of several AI-controlled ships to improve their efficiency in certain situations;
  • Changed the behavior of sniper ships to improve the efficiency of their positioning;
  • Increased the number of possible patrol routes.

Balance changes

  • Every available cabin now has a new perk:
    • Nova: increased resistance to collision damage.
    • Prometheus: kinetic weapons deal 10% more damage at speeds above 110% of base speed.
    • Selene: shield restoration increased by 255% at speeds below 35% of base speed.
    • Hermes: launching system reload time reduced by 20%, missile maneuverability increased by 15%, but missile speed reduced by 40%.
    • Nemesis: hull durability of all installed blocks increased by 40%.
    • Odin: energy weapons projectile speed increased by 50%.
  • The number of slots for consumables now depends on the rarity of the cabin:
    • Common: 1
    • Rare: 1
    • Epic: 2
    • Legendary: 3
  • Plasma gun projectiles now have a slight homing capability.
  • The range of all radars has been reduced to lower the average battle distance.
  • The propulsion and afterburner engines’ parameters have been revised: each engine now has distinct characteristics, which should increase the variety of ship designs suited for different tasks.
